Fire is always useful (unless your uninsured house is burning down). Zombies don't like it, and you can see better in the dark... Although it's not always beneficial to see what's actually in the dark.

- As Defence:
- Gives 1 to the Town when placed in The Bank (Up to 3 with Defensive Focus)
- Increases Home defence by 1 when placed in the Personal Chest
- In this case it gives only 0.4 to the Town (0.8 with Community Involvement).
- For burning a corpse. Costs 2 , however the torch will turn in to a Burnt out Torch. If the Vegetable Plot is built, this will lead to it giving a maximum harvest the following day only.
- For removing the night time penalty while Scavenging when on the ground in a zone at the time of a completed search.
- As a Melee weapon against Zombies in the World Beyond (not possible if Exhausted):
- Attacking with it kills 1 Zombie.
- After attacking it is replaced by:
- As a Guard Weapon against Zombies during The Attack:
- It stops 15 Zombies if in a Watchman's Inventory (requires Miniature Armory).
- After the attack it is replaced by:

- In Season 10:
- Watchmen points provided decreased from 30 to 20.
- It will burn for 1 day. The next day it will become a Burnt out Torch.
